Mining the Mystery of Mercury:
To the Depths and Back Again

In this experiential astrology workshop, we will heighten our collective curiosity and explore the Mercury / Hermes archetype. In ancient Greek mythology, Hermes has been described as the trickster, the guide of Souls (psychopomp) and the friendliest of the gods. He also has a more serious side and is known to help people descend to and ascend back from the underworld. Exploring these various dimensions, we’ll become familiar with the ways Mercury can help us get un-stuck from our dilemmas and desires and bring something new and vital to our lives.
Through divinatory practices including body movement, shapeshifting, word-play and exercises that evoke the random nature of Mercury, we will place ourselves in doorways – both literal and metaphoric – and allow ourselves to be surprised by what can emerge when we interrupt our linear way of thinking, creating a safe space for us to express ourselves a more fully. We will coax Mercury out of hiding, follow him into unexpected places, and nurture ourselves through deep listening.
The workshop will be held at my home on sacred land near the Sangre de Cristo mountains in Chimayo. So let’s wave our wands with wonder and explore the mystery of Mercury, invoking the patron of travelers to guide us on the road back, or ahead, from our time together.
