TAI CHI FOR HEALTH

I have been practicing Tai Chi Chu'an for over 30 years. I had the good fortune of being able to learn from one of the great Tai Chi masters, James Wing Woo, from 1990 until his passing in 2014 at the age of 91. I now teach James Wing Woo's method of Tai Chi.

Tai Chi is a Chinese form of exercise practiced for health, longevity and self-defense. This ancient martial art helps to harmonize the body and mind. Tai Chi also assists in maintaining posture, balance and control, and coordinating limb movement.

"One of the biggest problems with people training these days is that there’s just not enough emphasis on basics, on learning to move properly. The basics teach you to make the best possible use of your body. Learn how the mechanics work and feel where the force comes from. Most people choke up physically because they can’t seem to feel their own power unless they choke up and clench their muscles. But you don’t have to choke up, you just have to move. Let the bones, joints, and muscles move freely. The bones are the structure of the body, the muscles are the power, and the joints are the agility, the ability to move."

SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS

I teach in small, intimate groups where each student receives extensive personal attention. In these semi-private lessons, you will learn Tai Chi step-by-step, so you can practice at home. You will also receive coaching on posture, movement, coordination, breathing and more.
